The grains grown in Ontario will not only help Canada emerge as a global leader on food security, but can help reduce our country’s reliance on fossil fuels.
We are asking the Canadian government to invest in the growth of biofuels in Canada. And guarantee that the Clean Fuel Standard does not contain any limitations for farm crops that are designated for biofuels. Prescriptive planting practices would have disastrous effects on grain farmers and do not consider the sustainability efforts that farmers already make or the competitive advantage that give to other countries selling corn and soybeans for biofuels when we could be supporting Canadian farmers while strengthening both local economies and our commitments to climate change goals.
