Ontario's grain farmers are not only committed to keeping the food on Canadian tables safe, but to growing a greener, more sustainable future for farming. To do that, we need risk management programs that give grain farmers the flexibility to grow, innovate and introduce new sustainable practices and technology while remaining competitive.
Despite years of declining income and rising costs, government support programs like AgriStability designed to help and protect Ontario’s farmers have declined to almost nothing for grain farmers. We’re calling on the government of Canada to change the AgriStability support trigger to 85%, allowing farmers to access the funding and supports they need to adapt to our changing environment, implement more sustainable practices and help Canada achieve its net-zero objectives.
